The Greenville Road Warriors announced today that defenseman Wes Cunningham has been returned to the team by the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League. Also, defenseman Benn Olson has been recalled from his loan to Greenville by Bridgeport, and the Road Warriors have signed forward Tim Coffman to an amateur tryout.

HARTFORD, February 24, 2012:  Whalers Sports & Entertainment president and COO Howard Baldwin, Jr. announced today that the faceoff time for the Connecticut Whale’s home game Sunday, April 1 vs. the Providence Bruins at the XL Center has been changed to 2:00 PM.

The game was originally scheduled to be a 3:00 PM start.

GREENVILLE NEWS

The Greenville Road Warriors announced today that they have received goaltender Jason Missiaen and defenseman Benn Olson from the American Hockey League.

Missiaen, 21, has been reassigned to the Road Warriors by the New York Rangers from the AHL’s Connecticut Whale. The rookie goaltender returns to Greenville after backing up Cameron Talbot for two games on February 18 and 19. Missiaen has appeared in more games than any other Road Warriors goalie this season, 26, and is tied for the team lead in wins with a 13-10-2 record. The 6-8, 200-pound netminder is also tied for second in the ECHL with three shutouts this season. A former fourth-round draft pick of the Montreal Canadiens, Missiaen was signed to an NHL contract by the Rangers last March.

BOWERS BACK IN TOWN

The Greenville Road Warriors announced today that center Justin Bowers has returned to the team from the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League.

Bowers played two games with the Admirals before returning home. He is the Road Warriors’ leader in points (57) and assists (43) which rank tied for second and first in the ECHL, respectively. Bowers also leads the league in power play points (24) and power play assists (20). Bowers is the reigning ECHL Player of the Month after notching a league-best 28 points (10G, 18A) over 15 games in January.

CONNOLLY BACK IN GREENVILLE

The Greenville Road Warriors announced today that forward Brendan Connolly has returned to the team from the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League.

Connolly returns to Greenville after playing 12 games and registering two assists for the Stars. With Greenville this season Connolly ranks second in points (43), second in goals (20), and third in assists (23). The 5-8, 175-pound forward returns to the lineup with a nine-game point streak in hand which began with the second hat trick in Road Warriors history on December 23.

Connolly is expected to be in the lineup as the Road Warriors will square off against the Wings at 7:35 p.m. this evening.

BOWERS MOVING TO BEER-TOWN

The Greenville Road Warriors announced today that center Justin Bowers has been loaned to the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League.

Bowers was the ECHL Player of the Month for January with 28 points (10G, 18A) in 15 games and is Greenville’s leading scorer with 57 points (14G, 43A). His point total is tied for second most in the ECHL while his 43 assists lead the league as do his 20 power-play assists and 24 power-play points.

MCNAUGHT A ROAD WARRIOR

The Greenville Road Warriors announced today that forward Randy McNaught has been loaned to the club by the American Hockey League’s Connecticut Whale.

After beginning the season with the University of Calgary, McNaught signed an AHL contract with the Whale on January 23, 2012. He appeared in one game with the Whale and was held without a point in a 2-1 loss against Springfield on January 28. Prior to making his pro debut, McNaught was scoreless and had 24 penalty minutes with the University of Calgary this season.

VOROS RELEASED, MCNAUGHT TO GREENVILLE

Connecticut WhaleThe Connecticut Whale have released former New York Ranger’s forward Aaron Voros from his PTO with the team. The team also announced that recent signee Randy McNaught has been loaned to Greenville.

Voros, while a terrific guy personally was essentially going through the motions if his play on the ice was any indicator.

He had one fight on the ice in his 23 PIMs and scored four goals and had three helpers in 23 games played with the team.

McNaught, who signed an AHL contract with the Whale on January 23, dressed for one game with the Whale in the 2-1 loss at the XL Center on Saturday to Springfield.
