The Greenville Road Warriors made their first ever visit to the Sun National Bank Center a memorable one as they defeated the Trenton Titans 5-2 on Friday night. The win improved Greenville to 32-19-4 on the season.

TRENTON UP NEXT ON THE ROAD WARRIORS

Tonight the Greenville Road Warriors invade the capital city of New Jersey looking for the first win of their five-game northern road trip.

The Road Warriors (31-19-4, 66 pts.) visit Trenton (18-27-8, 44 pts.) today for the first of two meetings between the clubs this season. Fans can follow the action by watching live on America One or listening at GreenvilleRoadWarriors.com. The Road Warriors and Titans are meeting up for the first time since Trenton, then playing as the Devils, visited Greenville on March 4, 2011. The Road Warriors skated away with a 3-2 overtime win behind 26 saves by Nic Riopel. Tonight is Greenville’s first ever appearance at Sun National Bank Center, but it is a homecoming, of sorts, for winger Jeff Prough. It will be his first game in Trenton as a visitor after playing 171 games for the Trenton Devils from 2008 to 2011. Prough had 42 goals over three seasons at home for the Devils.

ROAD WARRIORS STRIKE FIRST, JACKALS STRIKE LAST

The Greenville Road Warriors were unable to pick up their first win of the season against an Atlantic Division foe on Wednesday night as they fell to the Elmira Jackals by a 5-3 score. The loss dropped Greenville’s record to 31-19-4 on the season.

The Greenville Road Warriors announced today that they have received goaltender Jason Missiaen and defenseman Benn Olson from the American Hockey League.

Missiaen, 21, has been reassigned to the Road Warriors by the New York Rangers from the AHL’s Connecticut Whale. The rookie goaltender returns to Greenville after backing up Cameron Talbot for two games on February 18 and 19. Missiaen has appeared in more games than any other Road Warriors goalie this season, 26, and is tied for the team lead in wins with a 13-10-2 record. The 6-8, 200-pound netminder is also tied for second in the ECHL with three shutouts this season. A former fourth-round draft pick of the Montreal Canadiens, Missiaen was signed to an NHL contract by the Rangers last March.

MORE WALLEYE FOR THE ROAD WARRIORS AND SOME MOVES

Today the Greenville Road Warriors host the Toledo Walleye at the BI-LO Center for their final game of a six-game home stand. The Road Warriors have won four of the first five games of that stretch.

JOHNSON INJURED, MISSIAEN RECALLED

Connecticut WhaleChad Johnson was injured late in the first period of Friday night’s 6-3 Connecticut Whale victory over the Springfield Falcons at the XL Center. The injury has resulted in the immediate recall of Jason Missiaen from the Greenville Road Warriors as a backup for Cam Talbot.

Including Friday night, Johnson had started the last seven games for the Whale and while he didn’t figure in this decision, he has won five of those seven.

Missiaen has had a good season with the Road Warriors. In 26 games, Missiaen, the tallest goaltender in North America at 6’8” and 220 pounds, has a 13-10-2 posting a 3.16 goals-against average and a 90.3% save percentage with three shutouts. Missiaen is tied for second-most in the ECHL in the shutout category.

The extent of Johnson’s injury is unknown as is the length of time he will be out.

The Greenville Road Warriors scored five unanswered goals to take down the division-leading Gwinnett Gladiators by a 6-3 score on Tuesday night at the BI-LO Center. The win improved Greenville’s record to 30-18-3 on the season.

CHICAGO GETS RUN OVER IN OT

Greenville Road Warriors    VERSUS      Chicago Express

The Greenville Road Warriors slugged it out for over 60 minutes with the Chicago Express on Sunday at the BI-LO Center and emerged with a 7-6 overtime victory. The win improved Greenville to 29-18-3 on the season.

BI-LO SPECIAL: WARRIOR BARBECUED WINGS

Greenville Road Warriors     VERSUS      Kalamazoo Wings

In front of a season-high 6,158 fans the Greenville Road Warriors bounced back from an earlier loss to the Kalamazoo Wings this week with a 5-2 win on Saturday night at the BI-LO Center. The win improved Greenville to 28-18-3 on the season.
