HARTFORD, CT – The American Hockey League announced today the individual team winners of the IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the Year awards. These winners were selected by their respective clubs for their outstanding contributions to their local community and charitable organizations during the 2022-23 season.

Wolf Pack Forward Bobby Trivigno has been selected as Hartford’s IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the Year award winner.

Trivigno participated in countless community events during the 2022-23 season, becoming a staple in Hartford. Trivigno attended multiple schools during the season, doing Q&A sessions with students. He also visited two schools during ‘Read Across America Week,’ where he took the time to read to students and preach the importance of school.

The native of Setauket, New York, also attended youth hockey practices, where he aided coaches in drills for multiple Hartford area programs.

From the list of 32 finalists, representatives from IOA/American Specialty and the AHL will choose the 2022-23 Yanick Dupré Memorial Award winner. The AHL’s annual Man of the Year award is named after the late Yanick Dupré, who died in 1997 at the age of 24 following a 16-month battle with leukemia. Dupré, an AHL All-Star in 1995, played four seasons with the Hershey Bears and also skated in 35 National Hockey League games with the Philadelphia Flyers.

The Wolf Pack return to the XL Center for Game Three of their Atlantic Division Semifinals series on Wednesday, May 3rd. The Wolf Pack lead the Providence Bruins 2-0 in the series and can advance with a victory. The puck drop is set for 7:00 p.m. Please visit HERE.

HARTFORD, CT – The Hartford Wolf Pack is proud to announce that Assistant Athletic Trainer Jared Degler has been named the club’s winner of the IOA/American Specialty AHL Person of the Year award for his work during the 2021-22 season.

A native of Hamburg, PA, Degler joined the Wolf Pack before the 2019-20 season. Before his time in Hartford, Degler spent three seasons as the Head Athletic Trainer for the ECHL’s Wheeling Nailers. He also spent the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons with the ECHL’s Reading Royals while completing his bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training at Alvernia University.

Degler has played a vital role during his time in Hartford, providing treatment for players while also assisting in enforcing the league’s COVID-19 health and safety protocols. His work allowed the Wolf Pack organization to operate safely and complete the league’s first full season since 2018-19. As part of this responsibility, Degler was tasked with knowing and ensuring compliance with all local and team COVID-19 requirements at home, on the road, and during travel.

HARTFORD WOLF PACK TRADITION

Traditionally acknowledging a player for his outstanding contributions to his local community, this season, the league expanded the Person of the Year program to allow teams to recognize individuals who played an essential and perhaps unexpected role in supporting their organization and/or impacting the local community as the AHL again navigated through a season affected by COVID-19.

Presented annually since 1998, the AHL’s Yanick Dupré Memorial Award honors the late Yanick Dupré, who passed away in 1997 at the age of 24 following a 16-month battle with leukemia. A second-round draft pick of the Philadelphia Flyers in 1991, Dupré played four seasons in the AHL with the Hershey Bears and was an AHL All-Star in 1995.

BINGHAMTON SENATORSCODY BASS NAMED WINNER OF YANICK DUPRÉ MEMORIAL AWARD AS AHL’S MAN OF THE YEAR

SPRINGFIELD, MA The American Hockey League has announced that center Cody Bass of the Binghamton Senators has been selected the winner of the Yanick Dupré Memorial Award as the 2010-11 IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the Year. The award is presented annually to an AHL player for his outstanding contributions to his local community and charitable organizations.

A fourth-year member of the Senators organization, Bass has always been eager to be involved in the local community. But this season, he was motivated to do even more. Devastated by the death in November of Daron Richardson, the 14-year-old daughter of Ottawa assistant coach Luke Richardson, Bass established WINGS, which stands for When I Need Guidance and Support. The foundation was created to increase awareness of teen suicide and help raise money to further programs in both Binghamton and Ottawa that work to prevent suicide in teens and young adults.

WINGS has been received with overwhelming support from throughout the hockey community, and fundraising efforts were highlighted by an outdoor skate in late February that saw hundreds of fans brave freezing temperatures to join Bass and his Senators teammates in support of the cause.

Bass’s contributions to the community have gone beyond WINGS, however, as he continued to volunteer for and participate in various other outreach opportunities. In addition to reading to students at local elementary schools and contributing to various charitable auctions, Bass has lent his support to teammates in their own community relations activities, including joining defenseman Eric Gryba on an ice fishing trip organized for the Broome Developmental Center, which assists people with developmental disabilities.

A 24-year-old native of Owen Sound, Ont., Bass was drafted by the Ottawa Senators in 2005 and has played 170 games with Binghamton and 33 more with Ottawa in his four professional seasons.

The AHL’s annual Man of the Year award is named after the late Yanick Dupré, who passed away in 1997 at the age of 24 following a 16-month battle with leukemia. A second-round draft pick of the Philadelphia Flyers in 1991, Dupré played four seasons in the AHL with the Hershey Bears, and participated in the 1995 AHL All-Star Game.

Celebrating its historic 75th anniversary season in 2010-11, the American Hockey League continues to serve as the top development league for all 30 National Hockey League teams. More than 85 percent of all players competing in the NHL are AHL graduates, and through the years the American Hockey League has been home to more than 100 honored members of the Hockey Hall of Fame. The 2010-11 season ends on Apr. 10, & 16 clubs will continue to vie for the league’s coveted championship trophy when the 2011 Calder Cup Playoffs get underway next week.
