As reported on Howlings, Skokan had signed an AHL contract with the Wolf Pack back on July 30, 2008. However, the 19 year old center-man decided that he would rather continue his hockey career in his native Slovakia than work his way through Charlotte and Hartford.
Skokan was selected in the 7th round pick, 193rd overall, in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft by the New York Rangers.

What gives? He should have stayed for an over-age year with Rimouski and gotten to play in the memorial cup. I hope he comes back? I do think the Rangers have too many of their talented prospects playing in the ECHL. I hope Tomas Zaborsky doesn’t “zip” or whatever he would do to go back to Slovakia as well.

Smart move. He saw himself buried deep in the Ranger organization. He should have move upside in Europe and Russia
