NO CANADIAN PACK HEADED TO WORCESTER

The AHL released the squad for the 2009 Canadian AHL All-Star Squad and there isn’t a single representative form Hartford on the squad.

It shouldn’t be much of a surprise. Most of the Canadian players on the Wolf Pack are either rookies, role players or haven’t distinguished themselves enough yet to warrant that level of recognition. The only “surprise” omission was P.A. Parenteau not getting the “Royal Canadian” treatment.

Canadians on the Wolf Pack squad are:

Brodie Dupont, Justin Soryal,  Parenteau, Dale Weise, Brandon Sugden, Matt Zaba, Devin DiDiomete, Dane Byers (injured), Matt Stefanishion, Mike Ouellette, Jordan Owens, Tommy Pyatt and David Urquhart.

The PlanetUSA AHL All-Star team roster will be announced on Wednesday. It will be a crime of incomparable measure if Artem Anisimov does not make that team.

Others from the Wolf Pack who are eligible for PLanetUSA (i.e. the rest of the team) are:

Corey Potter, Michael Sauer, Brian Fahey, Vladimir Denisov, Greg Moore, Patrick Rissmiller, Bobby Sanguinetti, Jared Nightingale, Anisimov, and Miika Wiikman.

In our opinion, the only players on this team right now worthy of serious consideration for the All-Star honor are Anisimov and Parenteau, and if you REALLY pushed it, then Anisimov has had a better season to this point that Parenteau. Artie’s numbers are way up. P.A.’s are good, but down from last season. If you wanted to talk about long shot candidates, dark horses, etc, then you could put Potter and/or Sanguinetti on that list. When the announcement is made tomorrow, it’s a safe bet to assume that the Pack will have a lone representative in Worcester and it will be Artem Anisimov.
