IT’S ALL PERSPECTIVE

Charlotte Checkers It was a good news, bad news day for the Charlotte Checkers all depending upon your point-of-view.

For Mike Bartlett, it was a good news day as he was given word by Derek Wilkinson that he’d been recalled by the Milwaukee Admirals who trail in their best-of-seven playoff series, two-games-to-one to the Chicago Wolves.

The bad news is for the Checkers themselves who Bartlett played a big part in helping Charlotte knot their best-of-seven series at a game-apiece with a two goal performance Saturday night.

Bartlett could return to the Checkers should Milwaukee get knocked off by Chicago.

Here’s the official release:

BARTLETT LOANED TO MILWAUKEE

Winger Earns AHL Call-Up On Heels Of Two-Goal Performance Saturday

CHARLOTTE, NC—Charlotte Checkers general manager and head coach Derek Wilkinson announced today that forward Mike Bartlett has been loaned to the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League.

Bartlett, 25, has two goals and three assists in five playoff games with the Checkers, including a two-goal performance in Saturday’s 5-0 win over Cincinnati.

The Morton Grove, Ill. native began the season with the ECHL’s Johnstown Chiefs where he notched 10 goals and 15 assists in 30 games before being loaned to Lake Erie (AHL) in late December. At the time of his call-up, Bartlett ranked second in Chiefs scoring. He was traded to the Checkers at the deadline along with defenseman and teammate Trevor Hendrikx.

In 41 AHL games with Lake Erie, the 6-foot, 195-pound winger tallied six goals and four assists. Bartlett also played 17 AHL games with Lake Erie last season where he potted two goals and an assist.

Charlotte (4-2) will host Cincinnati again on Tuesday, Apr. 27 and Wednesday, Apr. 28, if necessary. Ticket information can be obtained by calling 704-342-4-ICE or visiting www.gocheckers.com/playoffs.

  1. Wow, perspective is right! That’s a blow, but we it will be a good opportunity for Schepke to get back in the lineup, or for Tkaczuk to step up again.
