Charlotte Checkers CHECKERS RENAME FOUNDATION
Institution shifts focus to children- and cancer-related charities

In line with organizational rebranding as the team makes the move to the American Hockey League, the Charlotte Checkers announced today their charitable arm previously known as Checkmate Charities has been renamed to Charlotte Checkers Charitable Foundation.

The 501c3 organization is the foundation through which all team charitable initiatives are funded.

The new mission statement is as follows: The Charlotte Checkers Charitable Foundation is a 501C3 that creates initiatives, fundraising programs and partnerships that positively impact the lives of children, families and other deserving groups in the North and South Carolina Regions. We support school programming, athletics and various children-related non-profit groups that promote and encourage education, physical fitness and development of character.  Additionally, the CCCF allocates time and funding to cancer-related organizations.

Since 2006, the Checkers have raised $1.6 million for local charities and non-profit organizations.
Look for a brand new www.gocheckers.com website to be launched the first week of July.
