Charlotte Checkers GRAHAM RETURNS TO QUEEN CITY
Defenseman helped Texas to Calder Cup Finals in 2009-10

Charlotte Checkers head coach and general manager Jeff Daniels and senior vice president of hockey business operations Derek Wilkinson announced today that the team has agreed to terms with defenseman Ethan Graham on a two-way American Hockey League/ECHL contract.

Graham, 28, returns to Charlotte after splitting the 2009-10 season between the Checkers (ECHL), Norfolk Admirals (AHL), Milwaukee Admirals (AHL) and Texas Stars (AHL). In 32 AHL games, the Xenia, Ohio native notched two goals and five assists. Graham also appeared in 15 AHL playoff games, helping Texas to the Calder Cup Finals. He added two goals in the postseason, including the overtime winner in a 5-4 victory over Hamilton in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound blueliner has tallied three goals and 10 assists (13 points) in 106 career AHL games. He also has eight goals and 29 assists (37 points) in 68 ECHL games with Charlotte and Idaho.

Prior to turning professional, Graham skated for four seasons at Michigan State University where he helped the Spartans to the 2007 NCAA Championship.

The Checkers’ home opener is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 15 at Time Warner Cable Arena.
