Charlotte Checkers CHECKERS AGREE TO TERMS WITH HERAUF
Winger led Albany forwards in PIM, fighting majors in 2009-10

Charlotte Checkers head coach and general manager Jeff Daniels and senior vice president of hockey business operations Derek Wilkinson announced today that the team has agreed to terms with left-winger Brad Herauf (HAIR-awf) on a one-way American Hockey League contract.

Herauf, 28, spent the 2009-10 season with Albany (AHL) where he notched five goals and six assists (11 points) and amassed 194 penalty minutes in 54 games. In 91 career AHL games, the 5-foot-11, 195-pound native of Regina, Saskatchewan has seven goals, eight assists (15 points) and 310 penalty minutes.

Herauf played three full seasons in the ECHL from 2005-08, compiling 40 goals, 55 assists (95 points) and 820 penalty minutes in 202 games. In 2005-06, he led the ECHL in penalty minutes (344), while chipping in offensively with 13 goals and 17 assists (30 points).

Herauf becomes the seventh player signed by the Checkers this off-season.

The Checkers’ home opener is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 15 at Time Warner Cable Arena.
