TRAVERSE CITY DAY THREE

2010 Traverse City Prospects Tournament

New York Rangers fall to Minnesota Wild, 5-4

The New York Rangers prospects were defeated by the Minnesota Wild prospects, 5-4, in their third and final round-robin game of the 2010 Traverse City Prospects Tournament today in Traverse City, Michigan.

Center  Kelsey Tessier led the Rangers offense with a goal and an assist, while Alternate Captain Evgeny Grachev, Ethan Werek and Andrew Yogan each contributed goals, as well.  Captain Ryan McDonagh, Brandon Manning and Sam Klassen all added assists and Dylan McIlrath recorded a plus-three rating on the afternoon.  Goaltender Cam Talbot turned aside 22 shots in the contest.

“Stepan and Grachev continued to play well and provide offense, and McDonagh and McIlrath continued to be the solid two on defense, so we’ll keep them together (tomorrow). One kid who really stepped up in this game is a player we just signed for the AHL, Kelsey Tessier. He came up with a big goal and a big assist.”

The New York Rangers prospects next take the ice tomorrow, Wednesday, September 15 in the fifth-sixth place game at 2:30pm ET, against the loser of tonight’s Detroit v St. Louis game.
