SANGUINETTI TO HARTFORD…SORT OF

all_star09 The Carolina Hurricanes have sent former Hartford Wolf Pack defenseman Bobby Sanguinetti to the Charlotte Checkers. This means that tonight’s first game between the former parent club and the newest AHL franchise will bring the Rangers first round pick (2006 22nd overall) to the XL Center, a place he’s called home the past couple of seasons.

Carson, Pogge and Sanguinetti to join Checkers; Canes outline schedule for Oct. 10-13

Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has assigned defensemen Brett Carson and Bobby Sanguinetti, as well as goaltender Justin Pogge, to the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL).

The Carolina Hurricanes returned from Europe on Saturday morning after going 2-0-0 in their back-to-back regular-season games against the Minnesota Wild at Hartwall Areena in Helsinki, Finland, as part of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere. The Hurricanes will not play again until Thursday, Oct. 14, at Ottawa, but will return to the ice for practice on Sunday, Oct. 10, at the RBC Center at 10 a.m.
