Bowman, Dalpe assigned to AHL’s Checkers

Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has recalled forward Jonathan Matsumoto (mat-suh-MOH-toh) from the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL). The Hurricanes also assigned forwards Drayson Bowman and Zac Dalpe (DAL-pee) to its top minor-league affiliate.

Matsumoto, 24, has totaled three goals and six assists (9 points) in 10 games for Charlotte this season, leading the team in assists and sharing the team lead in points. Philadelphia’s third-round pick in the 2006 Entry Draft, Matsumoto has tallied 84 goals and 98 assists (182 points) in 261 career AHL games with Philadelphia, Adirondack and Charlotte. He has yet to make his NHL debut.
