NEW YORK RANGERS POST-GAME NOTES
December 15, 2010 – New York Rangers 4, Pittsburgh Penguins 1 (Game No. 33, Away No. 17)

* The Rangers defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins, 4-1, tonight at CONSOL Energy Center, to improve to 19-13-1 overall and post their league leading, 12th road win (12-5-0).  After falling behind, 1-0, late in the opening frame, the Blueshirts notched four goals in the third period to record their first regulation win in Pittsburgh since Jan. 19, 2006 (4-2).  New York is now 12-6-0 in their last 18 games, and have won five of their last six road games.

* The Blueshirts improved to 5-4-0 in the first game of back-to-back sets, with a 4-4-0 mark when the first game is on the road.

* The Rangers tallied one power play goal in three opportunities (4:20), and have now registered a goal on the man advantage in six of the last seven games (6-26, 23.1% over the span).

* Henrik Lundqvist stopped 27 shots to improve to 14-11-1 overall, including a record of 10-5-0 on the road.  He is now 7-3-0 with a 1.58 goals against average, a .940 save percentage and three shutouts in the last 10 games.  Lundqvist now leads the NHL with 10 road wins.

* Alex Frolov posted his second multi-point effort of the season with the game-winning goal at 10:25 of the third period, added an assist and posted a plus-two rating.  He tallied the game-winner just 15 seconds after Erik Christensen tied the score at one goal apiece.  Frolov has now registered three points (one goal, two assists) in the last two games.

* Brian Boyle capped off the game’s scoring with an even strength goal at 16:29 of the third period, tallied the primary assist on Alex Frolov’s game-winning goal, and led all skaters with six shots and six hits in the contest.  Boyle has now registered six points (two goals, four assists) in the last six games.

* Erik Christensen notched a power play goal at 10:10 of the third period to tie the score at one goal apiece.  The Rangers improved to 6-0-0 when Christensen tallies a goal and are 9-1-0 when he registers a point.

* Marian Gaborik tallied the only assist on Christensen’s power play goal, and led all forwards with 23:00 of ice time.  Gaborik has now registered 17 points (nine goals, eight assists) in his last 16 games.

* Artem Anisimov recorded an even strength goal at 14:55 of the third period, and has now registered three points (two goals, one assist) in the last two games.

* Dan Girardi registered an assist on the game-winning goal, and was credited with a game-high, four blocked shots.  Girardi has now tallied four assists in the last five games, and leads the team with 15 assists on the season.

* Defensemen Michal Rozsival and Michael Del Zotto each recorded an assist on Anisimov’s goal.  Rozsival has now registered four assists in the last four games.

* Marc Staal tallied one assist and three blocked shots, and led all skaters with 25:32 of ice time.  He has now registered nine points (three goals, six assists) in the last 11 games, including points in each of the last three (two goals, two assists).

* The Rangers will return to action tomorrow, Dec. 16, when they will face-off against the Phoenix Coyotes at Madison Square Garden (7:00 p.m.), to conclude their ninth back-to-back set of the season.  The Blueshirts enter the contest with a record of 8-0-0 in the second game of back-to-backs, having out-scored their opponent 27-6 in those games, and are 3-0-0 when the second game is at home.  Please note the Rangers do not have a morning skate scheduled prior to the contest.  The game will be televised live on MSG Network and can be heard on 1050 ESPN Radio or www.newyorkrangers.com.
