Battle with P-Bruins rescheduled from 7PM

HARTFORD, December 28, 2010: Whalers Sports & Entertainment president and COO Howard Baldwin, Jr. announced today that this Saturday’s Connecticut Whale New Year’s Day home game vs. the Providence Bruins will start at 5:00 PM.  The game had originally been scheduled for a 7:00 faceoff.

“With UConn Football kicking off in the Fiesta Bowl at 8:30 PM in one of the biggest games in Connecticut sports history, we felt it would perfectly set up a great night of sports entertainment in the market if we moved our faceoff to 5:00,” Baldwin, Jr. said.  “Now fans can start out by heading over to the XL Center for an exciting couple of hours of live Whale action, and make it home in plenty of time to be tuned in for every minute of the UConn game.”

That Saturday game is one of three Atlantic-Division home games for the Whale this week.  The team will also be in action at the XL Center tomorrow night, Wednesday, December 29, hosting Head Coach Kevin Dineen and the Portland Pirates at the XL Center in a 7:00 game.  The first 3,000 fans into the game that night will receive a poster commemorating the 1986-87 Adams Division-champion Hartford Whalers squad, and former Whaler and New York Ranger fan favorite, and ex-Hartford Wolf Pack assistant coach, Nick Fotiu will be making a special appearance to sign autographs and meet and greet fans.  Then on Sunday the division-leading Manchester Monarchs invade the XL Center for a 3:00 game.

Tickets for all 2010-11 Whale home games are available now at the XL Center box office, through Ticketmaster Charge-by-Phone at 1-800-745-3000 and on-line at www.ctwhale.com.  Tickets start at $7 each at the XL Center ticket office on game day.
