Charlotte Checkers‘CANES REASSIGN ZAC DALPE TO CHARLOTTE

Forward played in seven games, scored first NHL goal during recall

RALEIGH, NC – Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has reassigned forward Zac Dalpe to the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL). Dalpe played in seven games with Carolina during the recall, and scored his first NHL goal in the Hurricanes’ game against New Jersey on Jan. 1.

Dalpe, 21, started the 2010-11 season with the Hurricanes, and has scored three goals and earned one assist (4 points) in 14 NHL games this season while averaging 8:02 of ice time per game. With the Checkers, the Paris, Ont., native has scored 11 goals, earned 12 assists (23 points) and compiled a plus-11 plus/minus rating in 23 games. The Hurricanes drafted Dalpe (6’1”, 195 lbs.) in the second round, 45th overall, of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
