Blueliner leads all Checkers skaters with a plus-11 rating

RALEIGH, NCJim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has recalled defenseman Brett Carson on an emergency basis from the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Carson, 25, has played in seven NHL games in 2010-11, earning a plus-3 rating and averaging 10:22 of ice time per game. In 36 AHL games this season with Charlotte, Carson (6’4”, 210 lbs.) has scored three goals, earned 14 assists (17 points) and posted a team-best plus-11 plus/minus rating. The Regina, Sask., native has played in 66 career NHL regular-season games, and has scored two goals and earned 10 assists (12 points). The Hurricanes drafted Carson in the fourth round, 109th overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
