Ray SchmittBY: Ray Schmitt, Voice of the Greenville Road Warriors

The Greenville Road Warriors announced today that forward Brendan Connolly has been loaned to the American Hockey League’s Texas Stars. The Stars are the top minor league affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Dallas Stars.

Connolly is the Road Warriors’ leader in goals (20) and points (43) while also ranking third in the ECHL in points and second in goals. Since the team moved to Greenville, the 5-7, 175-pound forward has 93 points (42G, 51A) in 76 games which is more than any other skater. In his third season as a pro, Connolly has produced 132 points (71G, 61A) in 143 games combined between the Road Warriors and Elmira Jackals.
The Stars will be the third AHL team that has called on Connolly. In 2010-11 he was called up to the Adirondack Phantoms and skated in three games and picked up two penalty minutes. Earlier this season he was called up by the Road Warriors’ affiliate the Connecticut Whale but did not see any game action.

Mark your calendars! The Road Warriors return home to face the Gwinnett Gladiators on Thursday, January 12 at 7:35 p.m. at the BI-LO Center. Come out for a Throwback Thursday which features $2 draft beers, fountain drinks, hot dogs, and pretzels. College students can also get in for $6 with a valid ID.
