RIOPEL EARNS GOALIE OF THE WEEK FOR SECOND TIME

PRINCETON, NJ – Nic Riopel of the Greenville Road Warriors is the Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Feb. 21-27. He also won the award for the week of Oct. 25-31.

The 22 year old was 2-0-0 with one shutout, a 1.00 goals-against average and a .959 save percentage in two appearances appearances for the Road Warriors who improved their South Division leading record to 35-20-3 for 73 points.

Riopel recorded his second shutout of the season with 24 saves in a 3-0 win over Toledo on Saturday and then made 23 saves in a 4-2 victory against Wheeling on Sunday.

The Beloiel, Quebec native has appeared in 29 games for the Road Warriors this season posting a 17-11-1 record with two shutouts, a 2.78 goals-against average and a .908 save percentage. He has also seen action in 11 AHL games with Adirondack going 3-7-0 with a 3.55 goals-against average and an .874 save percentage.
A fifth-round selection (142nd overall) of the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Riopel went 4-6-0 with a goals-against average of 3.35 and a save percentage of .893 in 10 games with Adirondack last season. Riopel also made 168 appearances for the Moncton Wildcats of the Quebec Junior Major Hockey League from 2006-2010 going 94-47-14 with 10 shutouts, a 2.59 goals-against average and a save percentage of .915.
