MOUCHA LIKES BEING GREEN

Moucha

Danbury Whalers President and General Manager Herm Sorcher announced Tuesday that forward Marty Moucha has signed an agreement to return to the Danbury Whalers for the 2011-12 hockey season.

Moucha, a native of Mountain Top, Pennsylvania, by way of Mlada Boleslav, Czech Republic, was a mid-season free-agent signing by the Danbury Whalers in the 2010-2011 season.  In only 17 games, Moucha posted 10 goals, 21 assists, for 33 points and logged an amazing plus-23.  In five playoff games, Moucha tallied four points (1g, 3a) and was plus-2.

In the 2010-11 season, Moucha played five games with the Elmira Jackals of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) where he posted two goals and an assist.

Moucha’s season’s highlight’s included a hat trick and a helper for a four point night  on Feb. 20 against the Akwesasne Warriors, and a five-point night (2g & 3a) against Cape Cod on Jan. 29, as well as a second four point effort (1g & 3a) on Feb. 4th versus Cape Cod.

A measure of consistency, Moucha scored in 14 of the 17 games he played and the team posted a record of 11-4-2 in those contests.

“We fell short of our goal last year, “ Moucha said speaking of his return to Danbury. “This year we are going to do it and like (Head Coach Phil Esposito) says…. Whatever it Takes”
