The duo of Mitch Fadden (4G, 10A) and Alex Imbeault (9G, 3A) has paced Florida’s offense so far and Imbeault has four goals in two games against the Road Warriors. Greenville is tied for the most home wins in the league so far with a 4-1-1 mark at the BI-LO Center and has out-scored opponents 24-16. The Road Warriors have won three straight at home and have limited opponents to two goals or fewer in each of those wins. This weekend’s games will be the seventh, eighth, and ninth home games for Greenville and will carry the Road Warriors to the quarter point of their home schedule. Only the Wheeling Nailers with seven have played more home games than the Road Warriors after last week’s play.

Last Week:

11/5 vs. Gwinnett: W 3-1

After falling behind the Gladiators late in the third period the Road Warriors ripped off three straight goals to take down Gwinnett in the first meeting of the season. Chris Morehouse, in his Road Warriors debut, and Sean Berkstresser earned their first points of the season by assisting on Brendan Connolly’s goal 2:38 into the second period. That tied the game after Mike Forney scored for Gwinnett with 16:53 gone by in the first. The game remained tied at one heading into the third period, but Justin Bowers quickly broke that up. His marker at 4:02 of the third was set up by Blake Parlett and Julien Brouillette and turned out to be his second straight game-winning goal. Marc-Olivier Vallerand added an insurance goal at 18:08 to set the final score. Nic Riopel turned in 31 saves for his fourth win of the season.

11/6 at Gwinnett: L 3-5

A big night from Justin Bowers wasn’t enough to overcome Gwinnett’s potent power play and the Gladiators put the brakes on Greenville’s three-game winning streak. In their first road game of the season, the Road Warriors took the early lead with Bowers’ third goal of the season. Mark Voakes and Marc-Olivier Vallerand garnered assists on the goal at 9:14 of the first. The second period belonged to the Gladiators who netted three unanswered goals, two on the power play, from Ryan Garbutt (2) and Derek Nesbitt. Bowers’ second of the night at 4:29 of the third pulled Greenville within one goal, but Paul Flache chipped in a power play goal at the mid-way point of the period and Dan Kissel added a score three minutes later. T.J. Reynolds gave the Road Warriors some life with his first goal of the season at 14:04, but Greenville couldn’t pull off the comeback. Nic Riopel suffered his second loss of the season as he faced 48 shots.

11/7 at Gwinnett: L 1-6

For the third straight game between the Road Warriors and Gladiators the visiting team struck first but could not make the lead hold up. Shane Harper’s first professional goal came on a power play just 5:12 into Sunday’s game. Dov Grumet-Morris made his first start of the season and turned away seven Gwinnett shots in the first as Greenville maintained its 1-0 lead after the first 20 minutes. The Gladiators answered with two second period goals as Derek Nesbitt and Mike Forney put their club in the lead. The Road Warriors were well within striking distance at the start of the third period and earned a power play 3:26 into the period. Ryan Garbutt completely turned the tide with a shorthanded goal at 4:40. Greenville took three consecutive penalties after that and gave Gwinnett two minutes of a 5-on-3 power play. Garbutt at 6:10 and Sam Roberts at 7:06 cashed in and put the game out of Greenville’s reach. Dan Kissell added one last score at 17:24 to set the final. Grumet-Morris ended the night with 21 saves for the Road Warriors.
