Team Notes:
-The Rangers were defeated by the Anaheim Ducks, 2-1, in the shootout tonight at Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden, to conclude the 2011 Compuware NHL Premiere.

-The Rangers have now posted a record of 2-0-2 all-time in four regular season contests in Europe.  New York participated in the inaugural NHL Premiere in Prague, Czech Republic to kick-off the 2008-09 season, having won back-to-back contests against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

-The Blueshirts held the Ducks scoreless in six power play opportunities (8:11), and are now 10-11 for a 90.9% success rate on the penalty kill through two games.

-New York registered a 59% faceoff winning percentage, having won 32-of-54 faceoff attempts in the contest, and finished the 2011 Compuware NHL Premiere winning 66-of-114 faceoff attempts (57.9%) in two games.  Brad Richards led all skaters with 10 faceoff wins and a 77% faceoff winning percentage (10-13) in the contest.

-The Rangers out-hit the Ducks, 20-13, led by Ryan Callahan’s game-high six hits.

-The Blueshirts were credited with 18 blocked shots, led by Dan Girardi and Ryan Callahan who recorded three apiece.

Player Notes:
Henrik Lundqvist stopped 27 of 28 shots through regulation and overtime, and three of four shootout attempts to capture third star honors.  He finished the back-to-back set in Sweden with a 1.86 goals against average and a .931 save percentage (54-58).  Lundqvist is now 37-25 with a .768 save percentage in shootouts.  His 37 career shootout wins are the most in the NHL all-time.

-Brad Richards notched the Rangers’ lone goal, his first as a Ranger, with 2:15 remaining in regulation to force overtime.  He also led all skaters with 10 faceoff wins and a 77% winning percentage (10-13) in 22:33 of ice time.  Richards completed the back-to-back set in Sweden with a 79.2% faceoff winning percentage, winning 19-of-24 faceoff attempts over the span.

Ryan McDonagh tallied the only assist on Richards’ third period goal and logged 26:41 of ice time.

-Rangers’ captain Ryan Callahan led all skaters with six hits, and led all forwards with three blocked shots and 23:29 of ice time.  Callahan set a Rangers record for most shots on goal in the team’s season opener with 11 shots, and tallied a goal while making his debut as team captain yesterday against the Kings.  His 11 shots are the most by an NHL player in a season-opening game since Pavel Bure registered 11 shots for the Vancouver Canucks on Oct. 3, 1997 vs. Anaheim.

-Dan Girardi led all skaters with 31:25 of ice time and tied for the team-high with three blocked shots in the contest.  Girardi has logged a league leading 30:51 of ice time per game, and leads the Rangers with five blocked shots through two games.
