Greenville, SCThe Greenville Swamp Rabbits, proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers and the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack, announced that forward Wade Murphy has been acquired from the Worcester Railers in a trade. In exchange, the Swamp Rabbits have sent forward Curt Gogol to Worcester.

Murphy, 24, has skated in 17 games for the Railers this season and logged 12 points (3G, 9A). The winger signed with Worcester after playing 14 games at the end of the 2016-17 season for the Manchester Monarchs. After scoring a goal in his pro debut, the 6-foot forward added five more points (2G, 4A) to his stat line.

The Victoria, British Columbia native played his final collegiate season for the Arizona State University Sun Devils in 2016-17. Murphy was one tally shy of the team lead, earning 20 points (9G, 11A) in 31 games. The winger transferred to the Sun Devils in 2015 after playing two seasons at the University of North Dakota. Prior to his NCAA career, Murphy played three full seasons in the BCHL for the Victoria Grizzlies and Penticton Vees. In 172 games, he posted 181 points (69G, 112A). His success in the BCHL led to a seventh-round selection by the Nashville Predators in the 2013 NHL draft.

Gogol, 26, finishes with six points (3G, 3A) and 94 PIMS in 27 games with Greenville after signing with the club before the regular season. The Calgary, Alberta native has played 111 ECHL contests, earning 66 points (30G, 36A) and 392 PIMS with stops in Colorado, Alaska, Florida, and Greenville. Gogol also logged 179 games in the AHL with the Iowa Wild, Ontario Reign, and Worcester Sharks. The seventh-year pro returns to Worcester where he made his pro debut in 2011.
