NEW YORK RANGERS PROSPECT REPORT: FEB. 12

  • Filip Chytil registered a point in all three games during the week (two goals, three assists in the three contests), and he posted back-to-back multi-point games on Feb. 9 at Syracuse (one goal, one assist) and Feb. 10 at Hershey (two assists). The Rangers’ first-round pick (21st overall) in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft extended his point streak to four games (two goals, four assists), and he has recorded a point in five of the last six games (two goals, six assists in the six contests). Chytil has also tallied 14 points (four goals, 10 assists) in the last 12 games and 26 points (nine goals, 17 assists) in 29 games with the Wolf Pack this season. Chytil leads Hartford in plus/minus rating (plus-five) and points per game (0.90) in 2017-18. The 18-year-old leads all AHL players younger than 20 years old in goals and points in 2017-18. Chytil also ranks fifth among AHL rookies in points per game this season.
    • Chytil’s 0.90 points per game thus far in 2017-18 would be the eighth-highest total for an AHL player younger than 19 years old in one season in AHL history. In recent seasons, players who recorded a similar points per game average compared to Chytil in a season which they were younger than 19 years old were David Pastrnak (1.12 points per game in 2014-15) and William Nylander (0.86 points per game in 2014-15).

  • Lias Andersson registered four points (one goal, three assists) and 10 shots on goal in three games during the week. He tallied three points (one goal, two assists), including his first career AHL goal, and recorded an assist on the game-winning goal in overtime on Feb. 7 vs. Bridgeport. The Rangers’ first-round pick (seventh overall) in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft has registered six points (one goal, five assists) and a plus-three rating through his first eight career AHL games. In addition, the Wolf Pack have posted a 7-0-1 record in the eight games Andersson has played with the team thus far this season.
  • Alexandar Georgiev earned a win in each of his two appearances during the week before being recalled by the Rangers on his 22nd birthday (Feb. 10). Georgiev posted an 8-0-1 record, along with a 1.76 GAA, a .948 SV% (271 saves on 286 shots), and 2 SO in his last nine AHL appearances prior to being recalled by the Rangers. In addition, he has registered a 2.97 GAA and a .908 SV% in 31 AHL appearances this season, and he ranks fifth among qualified AHL rookie goaltenders in SV% in 2017-18.
  • Ryan Gropp registered a point in all three games during the week (one goal, two assists), and he tallied the shootout-winning goal on Feb. 9 at Syracuse. The Rangers’ second-round pick (41st overall) in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft extended his point streak to four games (two goals, two assists over the span), and he is tied for third on the Wolf Pack in goals this season (10).
  • Ryan Sproul tallied a point in all three games during the week and posted two multi-point contests (three goals, two assists in the three games). Sproul recorded two goals, including the game-winning goal in overtime, on Feb. 7 vs. Bridgeport, and he tallied two points (one goal, one assist) on Feb. 10 at Hershey. He has registered eight points (six goals, two assists) in his last six games and nine points (seven goals, two assists) in his last nine contests. Sproul has recorded 22 points (10 goals, 12 assists) in 41 AHL games this season, and he is tied for fourth among AHL defensemen in goals in 2017-18.
  • Boo Nieves registered an assist on Feb. 10 at Hershey. He has tallied five points (one goal, four assists) in the last seven games. Nieves has recorded nine points (three goals, six assists) in 17 AHL games with the Wolf Pack this season, including six points (one goal, five assists) in 10 games since rejoining Hartford on Jan. 15. 
  • Brandon Halverson stopped 31 of 33 shots he faced to earn a win on Feb. 10 at Hershey. The Rangers’ second-round pick (59th overall) in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft made his first AHL appearance of the 2017-18 season on Feb. 10. Halverson appeared in 26 AHL games last season.
  • Adam Tambellini registered two points (one goal, one assist) in three games during the week. The Rangers’ third-round pick (65th overall) in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft has notched a point in six of the last eight games (two goals, four assists) and in 11 of his last 18 games (four goals, seven assists over the span). Tambellini is tied for third on the Wolf Pack in goals this season (10). 
  • Cole Schneider registered a point in two of three games during the week (one goal, one assist). He has notched 31 points (10 goals, 21 assists) in 51 games with Hartford this season. Schneider, he leads the Wolf Pack in assists and is tied for the team lead in points in 2017-18. 
  • Vince Pedrie tallied two assists on Feb. 10 at Hershey. He has recorded 12 points (three goals, nine assists) in 33 AHL games this season. 
  • Steven Fogarty recorded two points (one goal, one assist) on Feb. 10 at Hershey. The Rangers’ third-round pick (72nd overall) in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft has registered three points (two goals, one assist) in the last four games.

 

  1. Ty Ronning registered two goals, including the game-winning goal in overtime, on Feb. 9 vs. Seattle. Ronning tallied his 48th and 49th goals of the 2017-18 season in the contest, tying and breaking the Vancouver Giants’ single-season record for goals (Evander Kane previously held the record with 48 goals in 2008-09). The Rangers’ seventh-round pick (201st overall) in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft has posted a multi-point game in four of the last five games, as well as a multi-goal game in three of those contests, registering nine points (seven goals, two assists) over the span. Ronning has tallied 49 goals and 19 assists for 68 points in 54 WHL games in 2017-18. He leads the WHL in shots on goal (273) and ranks second in the league in goals this season. In addition, Ronning leads Vancouver in goals, points, plus/minus rating (plus-14), power play goals (12), and shots on goal in 2017-18. He has also established WHL career-highs in goals and points this season. Ronning, who was named the WHL Player of the Week and the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) Player of the Week for the week ending on Feb. 4, leads all players in the CHL (comprised of the three Canadian Major Junior Leagues; OHL, QMJHL, and WHL) in shots on goal this season, and his 49 goals are also the second-most among all players in the three leagues in 2017-18.
  2. Tim Gettinger registered three points (one goal, two assists), including a shorthanded goal, and posted a plus-four rating on Feb. 10 at Erie. The Rangers’ fifth-round pick (141st overall) in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft has recorded a point in eight of the last 12 games (eight goals, seven assists) and has registered a point in 14 of the last 20 games, tallying 23 points (12 goals, 11 assists) over the span. Gettinger has recorded 55 points (29 goals, 26 assists) and a plus-26 rating with the Greyhounds this season, and he has established OHL career-highs in assists and points in 2017-18. Gettinger is also two goals away from tying his OHL career-high. He is tied for ninth in the OHL in plus/minus rating and is tied for 10th in the OHL in shots on goal (202) this season. In addition, Gettinger is tied for third among OHL forwards in plus/minus rating this season, and he is one of three OHL players who has registered 29 or more goals and a plus-26 rating or better this season. Gettinger also leads Sault Ste. Marie in shots on goal is tied for the team lead in game-winning goals (seven) and shorthanded goals (five) and ranks third in goals and points in 2017-18.
  3. Patrik Virta recorded two goals, including the game-winning goal, registered four shots on goal, and won 14 of 19 faceoffs (73.7%) in 19:44 of ice time on Feb. 10 against Assat. The Rangers’ seventh-round pick (207th overall) in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft has registered 32 points (12 goals, 20 assists) in 50 games with TPS this season, and he has established Liiga career-highs in games played, assists, and points in 2017-18. He ranks third on TPS in assists, is tied for third on the team in points, ranks fourth on the team in shots on goal (186), and ranks sixth on TPS in goals this season. 

  • Tyler Nanne registered a goal and posted a plus-one rating on Feb. 10 at Wisconsin. The Rangers’ fifth-round pick (142nd overall) in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft has recorded two points (one goal, one assist) and a plus-three rating in the last four games, and he has tallied 10 points (four goals, six assists) in 32 games with the University of Minnesota this season.
