DANBURY, CT – Danbury Hat Tricks, General Manager and Managing Partner, Herm Sorcher, announced that they have completed a trade to acquire goaltender, Nick Niedert, from the Columbus River Dragons, for Future Considerations.
Niedert, a veteran netminder from Hudson, Iowa, brings a wealth of knowledge, leadership, and experience to The Hat City. As a professional, Niedert has competed at many levels, including the FPHL, SPHL, CHL, and ECHL. He has also won an FPHL Championship in 2014-15 with the Watertown Wolves.
During the 18-19 season, Niedert played 9 regular season games for the Elmira Enforcers where he posted a .907 save percentage. Most notably, he played 1-game in the ECHL where he backstopped the Reading Royals to a 37 save, 2-1 victory.
“I’ve been a part of two inaugural clubs in Danbury, and again last season with Elmira in the league,” Niedert said. “There is a lot of pressure that comes along with that. Being a part of the foundation and the opportunity to play a major role in the franchise’s future. I look forward to the challenges that are ahead on-and-off the ice. It’s always a fresh start. Last season’s saves and wins do nothing for the next season, and that’s the fun part. It doesn’t matter how long I’ve been doing this, every season is a new challenge and I’m looking forward to contributing in whatever role I’m going to have.”
Niedert will be in a Danbury Hat Tricks uniform when they take on the Port Huron Prowlers on opening night, Friday, October 25th at the Danbury Ice Arena.
The Danbury Hat Tricks drop the puck to start their inaugural season in October of 2019 at the Danbury Ice Arena. Season tickets are currently on sale for $290, which includes complimentary parking, a food credit for your first hot dog, and your first beverage. To secure your seats, contact the Sales department at mbeck@danburyice.com.
