KUHN: LIAM PECARARO NAMED TO WARRIOR/ECHL ALL-STAR CLASSIC

PRINCETON, N.J. — Greenville Swamp Rabbits forward Liam Pecararo has been named to Team East as part of the 2020 Warrior/ECHL All-Star Classic, presented by Toyota, to take part at INTRUST Bank Arena on Wednesday, January 22 at 7:00 p.m. CST. The game will air LIVE, exclusively on the NHL Network.

Pecararo, 23, has been not only one of the ECHL’s most electrifying rookies, but one of the most electrifying players in the league. As of Monday, January 6, Pecararo ranked ninth in league scoring with 33 points, tied for third in league goal scoring with 18 goals, and tied for second in the league with three shorthanded goals.

Pecararo has posted points in 18 of 27 games he has played during his debut season in the ECHL. His season has included eleven multi-point efforts. The Massachusetts native is shooting 21.1% on the season, more than double the league average.

Currently, the Northeastern University product is on recall to the Springfield Thunderbirds, the official AHL affiliate of the Florida Panthers. He was signed out of Northeastern by the Panthers after helping the Huskies capture a Beanpot championship, a Hockey East title, and a berth into the 2019 NCAA Tournament.

Pecararo’s top-flight pedigree dates back to his time in juniors as part of the Waterloo Black Hawks of the United States Hockey League. Under head coach P.K. O’Handley, the league’s leader in coaching wins, and three-time USHL Coach of the Year, Pecararo was a key part of two Western Conference Final runs, and one run to the Clark Cup Final. He scored 118 points in 135 games in Waterloo.

His final season in Waterloo saw him named to the 2015–16 U.S. Junior Select Team. He helped the team capture the bronze medal at the World Junior A Challenge.

The Warrior/ECHL All-Star Classic, presented by Toyota, will feature a 3-on-3 tournament with four teams competing for the top spot. The host Wichita Thunder will make up two of the four teams and face off against the other two teams made up of All-Star players from the Eastern and Western Conference. These four teams will compete in a 3-on-3 tournament with rally scoring in order to crown a winner. The 2020 Kansas Star Casino/ECHL All-Star Skills Competition will take place in between rounds of the tournament, with results counting towards the cumulative score.

68 players from the ECHL All-Star Game have gone on to play in the NHL, including 52 since 2002. The rosters for the Eastern and Western Conference were determined in a vote of coaches, team captains, media relations directors, broadcasters, and members of the media.
