Hartford Wolf Pack Head Coach Ken Gernander has got to be pleased with the 2008 – 2009 schedule that was announced today by The AHL.
A quick review of the schedule reveals some interesting :
On the HOME schedule:
* 11 – Wednesday-night games
* 11 – Friday-nights
* 15 – Saturday-nights
* 3 – Sunday homers
On the ROAD schedule:
* 1 – MONDAY game
* 1 – TUESDAY game
* 5 – Wednesday-nighters
* 13 – Friday-nights
* 10 – Saturday-nights
* 10 – Sunday roadies
* Overall a much better schedule for the Pack this year as opposed to last season’s schedule which was brutal. This season there aren’t really any long stretches of games that are out of the AHL ordinary.
* Three of the first five are on the road
* The team has a long seven game home stand that runs from October 24th to November 8th
* There is only one home-and-home series and that’s with Bridgeport in January
* There are two on the road back-to-back games. The first against Manitoba in January and the other against Manchester at the end of January and to start off February.
* There are four sets of four game road trips.
* The Pack will see four teams that they rarely play. Hamilton, Grand Rapids, Lake Erie and Manitoba
The schedule breaks out like this.
October – 6 Home / 3 Road
November – 6 Home / 6 Road
December – 6 Home / 7 Road
January ’09 – 8 Home / 6 Road
February – 7 Home / 6 Road
March – 4 Home / 9 Road
April – 3 Home / 3 Road
* March will by far be the toughest test for these young men.
Here’s the actual schedule broken up by home and road games.
