Becomes Fourth Captain in Team History
Hartford Wolf Pack general manager Jim Schoenfeld announced today that forward Greg Moore has been named captain of the team for the balance of the 2008-09 season. The selection was made through a vote of the players. Fellow forward P.A. Parenteau and defenseman Corey Potter were designated alternate captains.
Moore, a third-year pro, becomes only the fourth team captain in the Wolf Pack’s 12-year AHL history. He follows current Pack head coach Ken Gernander (1997-98 through 2004-05), Craig Weller (2005-06 and 2006-07) and Andrew Hutchinson (2007-08).
In 46 games with the Wolf Pack this year, Moore has scored 13 goals and added 12 assists for 25 points, ranking him third on the team in goals and tied for third in points. Last year the 24-year-old Lisbon, Maine native finished second on the club in goals and points, with 26-40-66 in 72 games. He also suited up for six NHL contests with the parent New York Rangers, his first career NHL action. In 199 career games with the Wolf Pack, the 6-1, 210-pound Moore has amassed 48 goals and 70 assists for 118 points.
Moore was acquired by the Rangers from the Calgary Flames March 6, 2004, along with Blair Betts and Jamie McLennan, in exchange for Chris Simon and a seventh-round draft pick. He was a fifth-round selection (143rd overall) by the Flames in the 2003 NHL Draft out of the University of Maine, where he played four seasons prior to turning pro.
