Second-year Defenseman Earns First Call-up

Charlotte Checkers general manager and head coach Derek Wilkinson announced today that defenseman Julien Brouillette has been loaned to Providence of the American Hockey League.

Brouillette, 23, leads all Checkers defensemen with 15 points (5g, 10a) and ranks tied for 11th in scoring among ECHL defensemen. He also ranks fourth on the team with a +9 rating

Prior to turning pro, Brouillette played four seasons with the Chicoutimi Sagueneens of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. In four seasons, he notched 27 goals, 96 assists and accumulated 206 penalty minutes.

The Checkers (14-7-4-0) will once again host the Stingrays on Friday at Time Warner Cable Arena. Game time is 7 p.m. and ticket information can be obtained by calling 704-342-4-ICE or visiting www.gocheckers.com.

Howlings is VERY proud to have been given a voice via ballot as a member of the media to vote for the players that will compete in the 2010 ECHL All Star Game in Ontario, California. It’s an honor that we take very seriously and spent a considerable amount of time examining our notes and studying the numbers and have submitted our picks to the league office. Good luck to each of the players competing for this tremendous privilege.
