GOALIE SITUATION IN CHARLOTTE…SOLVED

Charlotte CheckersHowlings has confirmed an exclusive report provided by Jess Rubenstein of theprospectpark.blogspot.com,  that Prince Albert Raiders netminder, Garrett Zemlak will be joining the Charlotte Checkers of the ECHL as their backup netminder for the rest of the season.

Zemlak, 20 years of age, left Prince Albert Sunday night. He was to catch a Monday flight headed east.

Before leaving Prince Albert, the 6’1″ 195 pounder from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan picked up four post-season awards, including Most Valuable Player and Most Inspirational Player.

Zemlak has signed an ATO (Amateur Tryout Agreement) with the New York Rangers and will join their ECHL affiliate in Charlotte.

This season, in 57 games, Zemlak posted a 26-25-4 record along with a 3.11 GAA and a .909 save percentage. Zemlak also gave the Raider’s four shutouts.

In assessing what Zemlak can bring to the table, Rubenstein says, “Past experience says he’s not a bad guy. He can get hot for stretches. I doubt though that he has much a career beyond the ECHL.”

Howlings is very fortunate to have Rubenstein as a contributor Juniors. We’d be complately lost without his knowledge and expertise of what is going on in the juniors ranks.
