FREE CONCERT & INDOOR FIREWORKS HIGHLIGHT CELEBRATION
The Greenville Road Warriors, who open their inaugural ECHL season at the BI-LO Center against the Florida Everblades this Thursday, October 21 at 7:05 p.m. ET, announced today details of the festivities that will take place in celebration of the start of the season. “We have been looking forward to Opening Night all summer long. It’s going to be a great night for welcoming hockey back to Greenville and we can’t wait to share in the fun with our great fans,” said Road Warriors president and general manager Neil Smith.
The Road Warriors invite their fans to visit the BI-LO Center Plaza beginning at 5:00 p.m. ET for a special pre-game concert with country music recording artist R.B. Stone. Stone, who has performed with such artists as The Marshall Tucker Band, Charlie Daniels, and Martina McBride, has been recording albums since 1986 and released his 11th album, “Country Rocker” in 2002. The concert is free to attend and will conclude at 6:45 p.m. ET. Stone will also be performing the “Star Spangled Banner” before the start of the game.
Opening Night will feature a pair of exciting promotions; a Road Warriors magnet schedule giveaway and the first Thirsty Thursday of the season. Every fan through the door will receive a Road Warriors magnet schedule featuring the team’s 2010-11 home and road dates. And during all Thursday night games including Opening Night, fans will be able to take advantage of fountain drinks and select draft beers for just $1 each.
Before the first puck drops between the Road Warriors and Everblades, fans will be treated to a pre-game ceremony in celebration of the Road Warriors’ first season. Highlighting the ceremony is an indoor fireworks show that is sure to bring everyone out of their seats. Fans will also get to meet the entire team during the introductions, greet owners Neil Smith and Steve Posner, and be among the first to learn the name of the Road Warriors’ Road Hog mascot! Mark McLamb of Simpsonville, who submitted the winning name in this summer’s Name the Team Sweepstakes, will be honored during the ceremony. Finally, there will be a special guest to drop the ceremonial first puck.
Tickets are available for Opening Night but going quickly. To order yours visit the BI-LO Center Box Office between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, call 1-800-745-3000, or go to www.ticketmaster.com.
