LIGHTING STRIKES RANGERS, LOSE 5-3

NEW YORK RANGERS POST-GAME NOTES
November 24, 2010 – New York Rangers 3, Tampa Bay Lightning 5 (Game No. 23, Away No. 11)

* The Rangers were defeated by the Tampa Bay Lightning, 5-3, tonight at St. Pete Times Forum, and are now 12-10-1 overall with a 7-4-0 mark on the road.

* Steve Eminger notched his first goal as a Ranger with an even strength tally at 3:58 of the third period.

* Rookie Derek Stepan registered his first career power play goal and added an assist to extend his scoring streak to five games (two goals, four assists over the span), and has now recorded eight points (two goals, six assists) in the last seven games.  He is tied for fourth on the team in scoring with five goals and 13 points, and is tied for third on the Rangers with eight assists.

* Brian Boyle tallied his first career shorthanded goal at 12:51 of the third period, and is currently tied for 12th in the NHL with a career-high, 10 goals on the season.

* Marc Staal and Brandon Prust each registered an assist on Boyle’s shorthanded goal.  Prust has now recorded two assists in the last three games.

* Marian Gaborik and Michael Del Zotto tallied assists on Stepan’s power play goal.  Gaborik has now registered eight points (four goals, four assists) in the last seven games.  Del Zotto was also credited with a team-high, three blocked shots, and has now recorded two points (one goal, one assist) in the last three games.  Five of Del Zotto’s seven points have been registered on the power play.

* Ruslan Fedotenko skated in his 700th career NHL game.

* The Blueshirts’ practice schedule for tomorrow, Nov. 25, is 1:00 p.m. at the St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa Bay, FL.

* The Rangers will continue their three-game road trip when they face-off against the Florida Panthers on Friday, Nov. 26, at the BankAtlantic Center (7:30 p.m.), in the first game of a back-to-back set.  The game will be televised on MSG Network and can be heard on 1050 ESPN Radio.
