NEW YORK RANGERS POST-GAME NOTES
April 3, 2011 – New York Rangers 3, Philadelphia Flyers 2 SO (Game No. 79, Away No. 41)
* The Rangers defeated the Philadelphia Flyers, 3-2, in a shootout today at Wells Fargo Center to improve to 42-32-5 overall, and completed their 2010-11 regular season road schedule with a 24-16-1 record. Their 24 road wins are the most by the Blueshirts since 1993-94 (24-16-2). New York is now 9-3-1 in their last 13 contests, and are 7-3-0 in their last 10 road games.
* Henrik Lundqvist made 32 saves through regulation and overtime, and stopped two of two shootout attempts to improve to 34-26-5 overall with a 20-13-1 mark on the road. He is 9-3-1 with a 1.97 GAA, .935 Sv% and three shutouts in the last 13 games, and is 16-8-2 with a 1.91 GAA, a .947 Sv% and six shutouts when facing 30+ shots. Lundqvist improved his career shootout record to 37-24 with a .768 save percentage (182 saves on 237 shootout attempts), and is 7-3 in shootouts this season.
* Bryan McCabe notched a power play goal with less than one second remaining in the first period to tie the score at one goal apiece. He has now registered six power play points (two goals, four assists) in 16 games with the Rangers following his trade from Florida on Feb. 26.
* Ruslan Fedotenko tallied an even strength goal at 13:30 of the second period to give the Rangers a one-goal lead heading into the third. The Rangers improved to 9-0-1 when he tallies a goal and are 15-2-3 when he registers a point.
* Derek Stepan recorded the primary assist on McCabe’s power play goal, and is now tied for second among NHL rookies with 25 points on the road.
* Marian Gaborik registered one power play assist and a team-high, five shots on goal in 19:16 of ice time. He has now recorded two assists in the last two games.
* Vinny Prospal tallied the primary assist on Fedotenko’s second period goal, and was credited with a season-high-tying, four hits in the contest. He has now tallied 16 points (four goals, 12 assists) in the last 18 games. Prospal leads the team with 13 assists and ranks second in scoring with 19 points (six goals, 13 assists) in 26 games since returning from injury on Feb. 3.
* Marc Staal recorded one assist, was credited with three hits and three blocked shots, and logged a career-high, 34:01 of ice time. He has now registered five assists in his last seven games.
* Erik Christensen (game-deciding goal) and Wojtek Wolski each converted their shootout attempts for the Rangers. Christensen is now tied for third in the NHL with 11 career shootout game-deciding goals, sixth with 23 shootout goals, and ranks ninth with a 53.5 shooting percentage in the shootout. Wolski improved to 22-50 (44.0%) in the shootout for his career.
* Dan Girardi registered a game-high, seven blocked shots and logged a career-high, 32:36 of ice time. Entering today’s contest, Girardi led the league with 221 blocked shots and ranked 17th in average ice time (24:32).
* New York won 37 of 66 face-offs (56%) in the contest, led by Brandon Dubinsky‘s 16 wins in 24 attempts (67%). Dubinsky leads the team with a 52.1% faceoff winning percentage on the season (432-829).
* The Rangers will return to action when they face-off against the Boston Bruins in an Original Six match-up tomorrow, Apr. 4, at Madison Square Garden (7:30 p.m.), to begin a three-game homestand to close out their 2010-11 regular season schedule. The game will be televised live on Versus.
