Ray SchmittBY: Ray Schmitt, Voice of the Greenville Road Warriors

On Valentine’s Day it will be anything but a love-fest at the BI-LO Center with the Road Warriors hosting the Gwinnett Gladiators. The Gladiators come to town for Greenville’s fourth of six straight home games.

The Road Warriors (29-18-3, 61 pts.) host Gwinnett (27-12-11, 64 pts.) today for the 12th of 17 meetings this season between the clubs. Fans can follow the action by watching live on America One or listening at Greenvilleroadwarriors.com. The Road Warriors are 6-4-1 this season against the Gladiators and 16-11-1 overall in their history against Gwinnett. Greenville is 2-1-0 so far on its six-game home stand and 7-2-1 in its last 10 home games. Four of those seven victories have come against Gwinnett which has the fewest road wins (8) out of any team in the South Division. The Gladiators are embarking on a run of seven straight games on the road.

Come out and join the Road Warriors for their Two For Tuesday special presented by BI-LO. Show your BI-LO BONUSCARD at the Breakaway Honda Ticket Office window to get a free ticket when you buy a ticket of equal value. Be sure to stick around after the game, too, because the Road Warriors will be auctioning off players to have dinner with winning bidders with proceeds benefiting the second-annual Pink in the Rink game.

Who: Greenville Road Warriors vs. Gwinnett Gladiators
What: Home Game #26, Season Game #51
When: 7:35 p.m.
Where: BI-LO Center, 650 N. Academy St., Greenville, SC 29601

NOTEWORTHY:

Tonight will be the first time in the last six meetings between Greenville and Gwinnett that Jeff Jakaitis has not started for the Gladiators.
Brendan Connolly tied a team record and notched Greenville’s third four-point game of the season (2G, 2A) 2/11 vs. CHI.

Greenville is one of two teams with two players in the top ten in scoring in the league. Justin Bowers ranks third with 58 points and Brendan Connolly is seventh with 50. Las Vegas is the other team.

Greenville has given up multiple power play goals in three of its last five games and has a 1-1-1 record in those contests. Greenville is 3-5-1 this season when giving up more than one PPG.

Marc-Olivier Vallerand broke a 6-game goal drought and scored his first points of February with a goal and an assist on Sunday vs. Chicago.
