The Greenville Road Warriors closed out a busy three-game week with a 6-3 win over the Trenton Titans at the BI-LO Center on Saturday night. The win improved Greenville to 36-20-4 on the season.

The first period was a rookie showcase as the Road Warriors were able to build a 2-0 lead. On the back end, Jason Missiaen, who made his 14th start in Greenville’s last 15 games, turned away each of the 13 shots that he faced. On the front end, Kale Kerbashian and Tim Coffman provided the goal scoring. Greenville survived an early surge as Trenton logged an 8-3 shot advantage before the first was 10 minutes old. In the second half of the frame the Greenville offense took over. Kerbashian netted his first goal since December 9 at 11:21 for the 1-0 lead. Coffman’s first professional goal at 15:47 padded the advantage to two. Coffman also registered his first pro assist the previous Friday in Trenton.
Offense was on display for all to see from the drop of the puck to the final horn in the second period. Greenville opened the scoring while Trenton closed it, but at the end of the session Greenville scored three to Trenton’s two and took a three goal lead into the break. Kerbashian’s second of the night 1:09 into the stanza chased goal Brad Phillips and put the Road Warriors ahead 3-0. Just seconds after Greenville’s first power play of the night expired, Sean Berkstresser pounced on the rebound of a Jeff Caister shot and hit net for his ninth of the season and a 4-0 Road Warriors lead. Trenton’s Steve Silva slimmed the deficit with his sixth 59 seconds after Berkstresser’s. Brandon Wong restored Greenville’s lead to four at 14:13 with his 22nd of the season, but Ryan Hayes responded 29 seconds later to close out the scoring.
Trenton made a furious attempt to rally and comeback in the third frame. The shot advantage was 18-6 in favor of the visitors, but some big time saves by Missiaen kept the Titans at bay. Randy Rowe did provide Trenton’s third goal of the night 12:44 into the stanza and made for some tense moments down the home stretch. Andy Bombach had a golden opportunity to bring Trenton within one with a wrist shot from the high slot with just under five minutes to play. But the shot hit iron and Greenville’s two-goal lead remained safe. The Titans pulled goalie Dave Caruso, who came on in relief of Phillips, for the extra attacker but Bretton Cameron made them pay for that move with an empty net goal with 24 seconds to go.
Missiaen stopped 41 shots in earning the victory. The Road Warriors were 0-for-1 on the power play and 1-for-1 on the penalty kill.
