Event Summary
– CENTER OF ATTENTION – Two Rangers centers have registered 25 or more goals in 2017-18 (Mika Zibanejad – 27; Kevin Hayes – 25). Prior to this season, the last time two Rangers centers tallied at least 25 goals in the same season was 1996-97 (Mark Messier – 36; Wayne Gretzky – 25).
– YOUTH SERVED – Mika Zibanejad and Kevin Hayes are the first pair of Rangers teammates 25 years old or younger to both tally 25 or more goals in the same season since 2000-01 (Radek Dvorak and Jan Hlavac).
– POWER RANGERS – The Blueshirts were 1-for-4 (6:22) on the power play in tonight’s contest. The Rangers have tallied at least one power-play goal in seven of the last 12 games (10-for-37; 27.0% over the span).

Skjei has tallied four points (one goal, three assists) in the last five games and five points (one goal, four assists) in the last nine contests. He ranks second among Rangers defensemen in assists (21) and points (25) this season. Skjei is the only Ranger who has skated in all of the team’s 81 games thus far in 2017-18. He has led the Rangers in ice time in 15 of the last 28 games.
– Mats Zuccarello registered a power play assist and tied for the game-high with three blocked shots in 19:54 of ice time. He leads the Rangers in assists (37), points (53), and power play assists (16) in 2017-18, and he has established a career-high in power play assists this season. Should Zuccarello finish the 2017-18 season as the Rangers’ leader in points, he would become the eighth player in franchise history who has led the Rangers in points in at least four different seasons (along with Messier, Esposito, Ratelle, Bathgate, Hextall Sr., Boucher, and Bill Cook) and the ninth player in franchise history who has led the Rangers in points in at least three straight seasons (along with Jagr, Gretzky, Esposito, Bathgate, Hextall Sr., Dillon, Bill Cook, and Boucher). Zuccarello has tallied a point in nine of his last 15 games, and he has registered 10 points (six goals, four assists) over the span.
– Ondrej Pavelec stopped 20 of 22 shots he faced in tonight’s contest. He has allowed two goals or fewer in 12 of his 19 appearances in 2017-18.
– Neal Pionk led all skaters with six shots on goal in 22:16 of ice time in tonight’s contest.
