NEWINGTON, CT – The CT Chiefs are pleased to announce the hiring of Mike Tenney. Mike will be General Manager & Head Coach of the U18 Elite Full Season team.
The U18 Elite Full Season program will deliver an exceedingly competitive Tier I schedule within the Atlantic Youth Hockey League, Beast Series Showcase Division, and in high profile Tournaments and Showcases, ensuring exposure at both the College and Junior level. “We are very excited to have Coach Mike join the Chiefs. We are looking forward to him helping our U18 players advance to Junior Hockey in the USHL, NAHL and EHL.” exclaimed President Brandon Johnson.
Coach Tenney will also be working with the U16 National and American teams. He will be GM of both teams with his focus on recruiting out of the area players. U16 National Head Coach Jeremy Gerhardt said,” I am looking forward to working with Mike. We have a great core of CT kids and he will help us continue to add to the quality players we already have.”
Coach Mike comes to the Chiefs with over 10 years of experience coaching at the Junior & Midget level. Coach Tenney has worked directly with players at Midget, Tier III Junior and in the NAHL that have seen success moving to Professional, NCAA D1, and the NCAA DIII levels. He hopes that through his commitment to development and advancement he can provide exposure and opportunity for future players to create their own path to higher levels of hockey.
“I am happy to be joining the Chiefs at the U18 level, it will give me the opportunity to work with players who have the dedication, discipline, and desire to advance to higher levels of hockey. The environment and culture the Chiefs provide allows for players to grow and develop in a close-knit family type atmosphere and I could not be happier to be a part of it,” said Tenney of the opportunity with the Chiefs.
The mission of Connecticut Chiefs Hockey, LLC is to promote the athletic & personal character development of those players who wish to excel at the highest level of hockey competition USA Hockey has to offer.
The CT Chiefs will seek educational opportunities for our student-athletes. We will aid our student-athletes in successfully gaining those opportunities. We will achieve these goals by providing a quality consistent environment for our players, coaches, & families. The Chiefs have advanced over 305 players to Prep, Junior, & College hockey since the 2008-2009 season.
