Tyler Doig and Kenny Roche Summoned from ECHL Charlotte

Hartford Wolf Pack general manager Jim Schoenfeld announced today that the Wolf Pack has signed forwards Tyler Doig and Kenny Roche to Professional Tryout (PTO) agreements.  Both players come to the Wolf Pack from the team’s ECHL affiliate, the Charlotte Checkers.

Doig, a third-year pro out of the Ontario Hockey League, is tied for the ECHL lead in assists and stands fifth in the lead in points, with 11 goals and 37 assists for 48 points in 40 games.  Those totals were good for the Charlotte team lead in points and assists, and his 101 penalty minutes were second-most on the Checker club.

Last season the 6-0, 185-pound Doig played five AHL games with the Toronto Marlies, going scoreless with 16 penalty minutes, and spent the balance of the season in the ECHL with the Reading Royals.  He led all Reading players in points and assists, and finished tied for fourth on the team in goals, with 18-41-59 in 62 games.  In 29 career AHL games with Toronto, Doig has totaled four goals and four assists for eight for eight points and has 29 PIM.  In 139 career ECHL contests with the Columbia Inferno, Reading and Charlotte, the 23-year-old Seaforth, Ontario native has 36 goals and 99 assists for 135 points, along with 232 PIM.

Roche, a product of Boston University, is also in his third pro season and is entering his second tour of duty with the Wolf Pack.  The 6-0, 205-pound native of South Boston, MA played three games in a Wolf Pack uniform in 2006-07, following the conclusion of his Senior season at B.U., and registered one assist and two penalty minutes.

This year with Charlotte, Roche ranks second on the team in goals and stands fourth in points, with 16-11-27 in 33 games.  The 26-year-old Roche also played three AHL games earlier this season with the Providence Bruins, posting an assist in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Wolf Pack last Saturday in Hartford.  Last year Roche played in the German Bundesliga with the Lausitzer Foxes, scoring the third-most goals on the club and finishing fourth on the team in points with 14-14-28 in 40 games.

Roche was a third-round selection by the New York Rangers in the 2003 NHL Draft, out of St. Sebastian’s Prep.  In addition to his AHL experience with the Wolf Pack and Providence, Roche played 32 games with the Lake Erie Monsters in 2007-08, contributing two goals and four assists for six points.  In 60 career ECHL games with Charlotte and the Johnstown Chiefs, he has amassed 21 goals and 27 assists for 48 points, along with 57 PIM.
