Nothing on planet Earth moves us more than a child in need. All this “talk” going on in Washington about fixing health care and such goes on and on, meanwhile beautiful little girls like Ellie Potvin continue to suffer while politicians bark at each other and play politics with people’s lives. I’m not advocating for one side or the other here, but there is something that can be done to make this better for one family…for one little girl… The bottom line on ALL of this stuff is, “It has to start somewhere.” We commend the Charlotte Checkers for taking this on and for helping this little girl battle her horrible disease. I would personally implore EVERY reader of Howlings to do what you can and if you’re in Charlotte go to the game and place a ridiculously high bid on one or more of these helmets. How can you look at such a beautiful child and do nothing? We can’t. We’re going to be contributing a mini-helmet signed by the entire 2009-10 Hartford Wolf Pack team. So please, bid high and help out a worthy cause.
Join the Charlotte Checkers and the Potvin family for the 2nd Annual Lift Up Ellie event on Sunday, March 28 at 2:00 PM!
Ellie Shoal Potvin is a beautiful eight year old girl who was diagnosed with a rare childhood cancer called Rhabdomyosarcoma in July of 2008. The Checkers relationship with the Potvin’s began last season when they hosted the first Lift Up Ellie Night at Time Warner Cable Arena, and Checkers Fight For Ellie in November of 2009. Her family, along with the Checkers teamed up with the community to help raise funds to help ease the family’s mounting financial burden. The Potvin’s have no control on the number of days they will blessed with Ellie’s joy filled spirit and were handed the news that they are once again facing the fight of little Ellie’s life.
The Checkers will also be holding a live post game helmet auction with 100% of the proceeds going back to the Potvin family. Helmets will be signed by the team and will be shipped to the highest bidder at the end of playoffs.
Tickets will be $15.00 with $6.00 from each ticket sold benefiting the Ellie Shoal Potvin Supplemental Fund. Tickets must be purchased by 5 pm on Friday, March 26th.
Join the Checkers as the team once again comes together to support Team Potvin as they continue their journey on Sunday, March 28 at 2:00 PM. Contact Danielle Adkins for more information or to purchase tickets at 704-444-1876 or dadkins@gocheckers.com
