NO SURPRISE TO HOWLINGS READERS

Hartford Wolf Pack CT LotteryAs we had surmised over the past few days, with the return of Evgeny Grachev there was just going to be no room for Brandon Wong on the current Wolf Pack roster. That sentiment became official Tuesday morning when the Wolf Pack sent the former Quinnipiac standout to Greenville of the ECHL.

The good news is that the Wolf Pack, as a group, continues to get healthier. It is expected that Dale Weise will likely return to action by early December. When Weise does return, the numbers game seems to point to Tyler Donati as the player most likely to be sent to Greenville.

Here’s the official release.

Former Quinnipiac Star Played Six Games with Pack

Hartford Wolf Pack general manager Jim Schoenfeld announced today that the team has assigned forward Brandon Wong to its ECHL affiliate, the Greenville Road Warriors.

Wong, who signed with the Wolf Pack September 9 after four years at Quinnipiac University, was scoreless with six shots on goal in six games with the Pack.  Last season, Wong led the Quinnipiac squad in points and goals, and finished second on the team in assists, with totals of 19 goals and 22 assists for 41 points in 40 games.  His point total of 41 was good for a tie for fifth in the ECAC.  Following the completion of his college career, Wong, 23, joined the AHL’s Grand Rapids Griffins on an Amateur Tryout (ATO) agreement and registered one assist and four shots on goal in three games.

The Wolf Pack return to action at the XL Center tonight, hosting the Toronto Marlies in a 7:00 game, and are also on home ice this Saturday night, November 13 against the Springfield Falcons, in the final home game before the team is officially re-branded the Connecticut Whale on November 27.

Tickets for all 2010-11 home games are available now at the XL Center ticket office, through Ticketmaster Charge-by-Phone at 1-800-745-3000 and on-line at www.ctwhale.com.

Season tickets for the Wolf Pack’s 2010-11 AHL season are also on sale now. For information on season seats, and all of the Wolf Pack’s many ticketing options, visit www.ctwhale.com, or call (860) 728-3366 to talk with an account executive today.

The AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack/CT Whale is operated by Whalers Sports and Entertainment, a Hartford-based sports marketing and event firm founded by Howard Baldwin.  The team is the top player-development affiliate of the NHL’s New York Rangers.
