Greenville Road WarriorsBY: Ray Schmitt, Voice of the Greenville Road Warriors

GREENVILLE, SC – The Greenville Road Warriors play their second of three home games this week as they host the Reading Royals at 7:35 p.m. at the BI-LO Center tonight.

The Road Warriors (4-3-0) host Reading (3-3-1) tonight in the fourth game of an eight-game homestand for the Road Warriors. Greenville is off to a 3-0-0 start after taking down Florida in back-to-back games last Friday and Saturday then topping Toledo last night. Reading is starting a five-game road trip tonight that also includes visits to Gwinnett and South Carolina in the South Division. The Road Warriors will look to avenge a 3-2 loss to the Royals suffered on October 15 in Greenville. The win for Reading is a part of its 2-0-1 road record so far, and for Greenville the Road Warriors have won three straight home games following that loss. Tonight is the second of six meetings this season between Greenville and Reading with two games remaining at the BI-LO Center and two at the Sovereign Center. The Road Warriors are 2-2-0 in their history against Reading .

Who: Greenville Road Warriors vs. Reading Royals
What: Home Game #6, Season Game #8
When: 7:35 p.m.
Where: BI-LO Center, 650 N. Academy St., Greenville, SC 29601.

  • After last night’s victory, Nic Riopel has won nine straight regular season starts dating to March 13, 2011. He is 17-5-1 for his career in the regular season at the BI-LO Center.
  • Greenville is 3-0-0 on its 8-game homestand. It will be followed by 7 straight road games starting Nov. 18. Both are the longest such stretches of the season for the Road Warriors.
  • The Road Warriors have won each of the last three games in which their opponent has scored first. Greenville has surrendered the first goal in five of its seven games so far this season.
  • In just seven games, Sam Klassen has already surpassed his power play points total (1) from 2010-11 with three (1G, 2A). Including the 2011 Kelly Cup Playoffs, Klassen has registered eight points (3G, 5A) in 17 games.

Here’s what I’ve found out. Max has been a healthy scratch in all but three games and Wilson has been on the IR since they broke camp. Dean hasn’t disclosed what Wilson’s injury is.
