GLADIATORS AND ROAD WARRIORS TO MIX IT UP

GREENVILLE, SC  After three weeks away from home, the Road Warriors return to the BI-LO Center tonight to battle the Gwinnett Gladiators. Faceoff is set for 7:35 p.m.

The Road Warriors (11-8-0) host Gwinnett (10-6-7) tonight for the third of 17 scheduled meetings between the clubs. Fans can follow the action by watching live on America One or listening at www.greenvilleroadwarriors.com.The Gladiators are the Road Warriors’ most common opponent at home this season with nine contests between the teams at the BI-LO Center. The Road Warriors were 6-3-0 at home against the Gladiators last season, but Gwinnett did manage more goals in a game at the BI-LO Center than any other team in its 8-6 win on January 14, 2011. While the Road Warriors are at home for the first time since November 15, the Gladiators are playing their last of four straight away games.

Tonight the Road Warriors are hosting a Throwback Thursday presented by WSSL 100.5, The Greenville News, and New Rock 93.3. Fans can enjoy select draft beers, fountain drinks, hot dogs, and pretzels for just $2 and college students with a valid ID can get in for $6. The Jeremy McCall band will be playing on the BI-LO Center concourse pre-game starting at 6:35 and during intermissions.

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Greenville’s 32.4 shots per game are fifth best in the ECHL. Marc-Olivier Vallerand is tops on the team, and 11th in the league, with 73 shots (3.8/game).
  • Greenville ranks eighth in the ECHL with 19 goals given up in the third period. They have out-scored opponents 21-19 in the final twenty minutes.
  • The Road Warriors are 10-1-0 when leading or tied after two periods of play. They are 1-7-0 when trailing after two.
  • Road Warriors have given up a power play goal in four consecutive games but are 19-for-23 (82.6%) on the kill in their last five. Road Warriors are 36-for-46 on the PK at home this season.
  • Road Warriors are sixth in the ECHL with 3.32 goals per game. Leading goal scorers Jeff Prough (12) and Brendan Connolly (12) account for 38 percent of Greenville’s goals.
