Greenville Road WarriorsBY: Ray Schmitt, Voice of the Greenville Road Warriors

GREENVILLE, SC – Tonight the Greenville Road Warriors continue their assault on the South Division’s top teams as they host the South Carolina Stingrays. The puck drops at 7:35 p.m. at the BI-LO Center.

The Road Warriors (12-8-0) host South Carolina (12-8-1) tonight for the fifth of 16 scheduled meetings between the clubs. Fans can follow the action by watching live on America One or listening at  www.greenvilleroadwarriors.com. The Stingrays have been a very common guest at the BI-LO Center recently as, including tonight, the Road Warriors have played four of their last five home games against South Carolina. If the Road Warriors can hold serve at home and come away with a regulation win it would propel them past South Carolina into second place in the South Division. Greenville comes in as one of the hotter teams in the ECHL with seven wins in its last 10 while South Carolina has lost two straight and six of its last 10.

Tonight is a Spinx Family Four-Pack night with the Road Warriors. Fans coming to the game can get four tickets, four hot dogs, four fountain drinks, and four bags of chips for just $48!

Who: Greenville Road Warriors vs. South Carolina Stingrays
What: Home Game #12, Season Game #21
When: 7:35 p.m.
Where: BI-LO Center, 650 N. Academy St., Greenville, SC 29601

NOTEWORTHY:

  • South Carolina’s Philipp Grubauer has a 1.92 GAA and a .933 SVP against the Road Warriors, but Greenville has beaten him in each of the starts he made against them.
  • Rookie Kale Kerbashian has three points (1G, 2A) in five games since returning to the lineup on 11/29 after missing eight games with an injury.
  • The Road Warriors are 11-1-0 when leading or tied after two periods of play. They are 1-7-0 when trailing after two.
  • Brendan Connolly is tied for the team lead in goals against S.C. with three in four games. Last season, the Stingrays limited him to four points (2G, 2A) in 10 games.
  • Greenville has held opponents to two goals or fewer in each of its last four home games. For the season, the Road Warriors have a 3.3 goals-against average at home.

Mark your calendars! The Road Warriors return home to face the Florida Everblades on Friday, December 16 at 7:35 p.m. at the BI-LO Center. It will be the Road Warriors second-annual Teddy Bear Toss where fans get to throw stuffed animals on to the ice after Greenville scores its first goal of the game. All tossed toys will be donated to WSSL 100.5’s Stuff the Truck event which benefits Toys for Tots. You can save on your tickets for the game by getting the Spinx Family Four-Pack (4 – tickets, hot dogs, bags of chips, and fountain drinks for $48) or by bringing a group of 10 or more to the game. Call 864-674-PUCK (7825) for more info or to book your group.
