GLADIATORS AND ROAD WARRIORS TONIGHT

The Greenville Road Warriors are back at the BI-LO Center for the first time in two weeks to take on the Gwinnett Gladiators at 7:35 p.m. tonight.

The Road Warriors (19-13-2) host Gwinnett (17-9-9) today for the fourth of 17 scheduled meetings between the clubs. Fans can follow the action by watching live on  America One or listening at greenvilleroadwarriors.com.

The Road Warriors are 2-1-0 this season against the Gladiators and 12-8-0 overall in their history against Gwinnett. The Road Warriors begin a stretch of four straight games against the Gladiators tonight, and with eight points on the line have a chance to leap over Gwinnett and in to first place in the South Division. It won’t be easy, though, as Gwinnett is playing some of its best hockey of the season and is 7-1-2 in its last 10 games. The Gladiators’ backbone is goaltender Jeff Jakaitis who leads the ECHL in save percentage (.942), shutouts (4), and is tied for the league lead in goals-against average (1.73).

NOTEWORTHY:

Greenville’s .694 win percentage (12-5-1) against divisional opponents is the best in the Eastern Conference. Only Alaska (.786) and Las Vegas (.833) are better against division opponents.

Jeremy Gouchie’s shorthanded goal on Jan. 7 at TOL broke a 23-game goal drought for the rookie forward.

Connor Shields has scored three goals in his last two games. It’s the second time he has scored in back-to-back games this season and nearly doubled his goals from the first 32 games.

Greenville is 7-2-1 on games played Monday through Thursday this season including a 3-1-1 mark on Thursdays. They are 12-11-1 the rest of the days of the week.

T.J. Reynolds leads the Road Warriors all-time in games played at 105. Including tonight, the only games Reynolds has missed for Greenville have been due to suspension (2 games).
