Event Summary

KILL ZONE – The Rangers were 4-for-4 (6:23) on the penalty kill in tonight’s game and only allowed six shots on goal over Washington’s four power play opportunities. The Blueshirts have killed off 44 of their opponents’ last 51 power play opportunities (86.3% over the span). The Rangers have not allowed more than one power play goal in a game in 26 consecutive contests.

MAY THE FOURTH (LINE) BE WITH YOU – The Paul Carey-Boo Nieves-Jesper Fast line has registered four goals over the last three games. Each of the three players has recorded at least one goal over the span, and at least one of the three players has registered a goal in each contest.

CLOSE CALL – Thirteen of the Rangers’ last 17 games, as well as 21 of their 28 games this season, have been decided by two or fewer goals.

SHOOTING GALLERY – The Rangers registered 29 shots on goal in tonight’s contest, as 15 of 18 skaters recorded at least one shot on goal in the contest.

Michael Grabner registered a goal and tied for the team-high with four shots on goal. As of the conclusion of tonight’s game, Grabner is tied for the NHL lead in goals since Oct. 26 (13). He leads the Rangers in goals this season (14), even strength goals (14), and plus/minus rating (plus-11) this season. Grabner has registered four goals/points in the last three games and has tallied 14 points (13 goals, one assist) in the last 18 contests.

Jesper Fast tallied a goal in the third period of tonight’s contest. He has recorded a goal/point in each of the last two games. In addition, he has registered six points (five goals, one assist) in the last eight games, including five goals/points in the last seven contests.

Henrik Lundqvist made 36 saves in tonight’s contest, including 16 saves in the first period. Lundqvist has made at least 30 saves in six of his last nine appearances and in 11 of his last 20 appearances. Following tonight’s game, Lundqvist is now 30 saves away from 20,000 in his NHL career.

J.T. Miller recorded an assist in tonight’s contest. Miller extended his point streak to four games (one goal, three assists) and his assist streak to three games. He has also notched a point in six of the last seven games (one goal, five assists). Miller leads the Rangers in assists (nine) and points (11) on the road this season. In addition, Miller has registered 20 points (four goals, 16 assists) in 19 games against Eastern Conference opponents in 2017-18, and he leads the Rangers in assists and points in games against Eastern Conference teams this season. Miller is also tied for the team lead in assists thus far this season (17).

Ryan McDonagh tallied an assist and led all skaters with four blocked shots while skating in a team-high 24:47 of ice time. The Rangers captain has recorded eight assists/points in his last 10 games, 11 assists/points in his last 14 games, and 13 assists/points in his last 18 contests.

Paul Carey registered an assist in tonight’s contest. Carey has tallied a point in three consecutive games and an assist in two consecutive games for the first time in his NHL career. He has recorded one goal and two assists over his three-game point streak, and he has also notched four points (two goals, two assists) in the last seven games. In addition, Carey has registered four points in six games against Metropolitan Division opponents this season.

Marc Staal notched an assist, recorded three shots on goal, and posted a plus-one rating in tonight’s contest. He has registered an assist/point in two of the last three games.

Morning Skate/Availability Schedule: The Rangers will not have a morning skate prior to tomorrow’s contest. Rangers Head Coach Alain Vigneault will be available to the media at 5:00 p.m. in the fifth-floor press conference room at Madison Square Garden.
