Event Summary

HITTING MACHINE – The Rangers were credited with 23 hits in tonight’s contest, as seven different skaters registered at least two hits in the game.

TEAM EFFORT – Fourteen of 18 skaters registered at least one shot on goal in tonight’s game. The Rangers recorded 24 shots on goal in the contest.

Ryan Spooner registered a goal, tied for the team-high with three shots on goal, was credited with two hits and posted a plus-one rating in 17:44 of ice time. He recorded his 13th goal of the season, tying his career-high (he also registered 13 goals during the 2015-16 season). Spooner has tallied 16 points (four goals, 12 assists) in 18 games since he was acquired by the Rangers on Feb. 25, and he is tied for the team lead in assists and points over the span.

Kevin Hayes tallied a goal, won 10 of 14 faceoffs (71.4%), tied for the team-high with three shots on goal, and posted a plus-one rating. Hayes extended his point streak to four games (three goals, one assist over the span), and he has recorded a goal in three of the four contests. In addition, he has registered a point in seven of the last nine games, tallying eight points (four goals, four assists) in those nine contests. Hayes has recorded 25 points (14 goals, 11 assists) in 31 games since returning to the Rangers’ lineup on Jan. 25 following an injury, and he leads the Blueshirts in goals and points over the span. He has established career-highs in several categories in 2017-18, including goals (24) and even strength goals (17); he ranks second on the Rangers in even strength goals and ranks third on the team in goals this season.

Jimmy Vesey tallied an assist, was credited with two hits and posted a plus-two rating in 16:54 of ice time. He has registered an assist/point in four of the last six games, and he has recorded six points (two goals, four assists) over the span. In addition, Vesey has notched nine points (five goals, four assists) in the last 11 contests. He has recorded 28 points (17 goals, 11 assists) this season. Vesey has established career-highs in goals and points and has tied his career-high in assists in 2017-18.

Filip Chytil notched an assist, registered two shots on goal, and posted a plus-one rating in 16:22 of ice time. Chytil has recorded a point in three of five games since he was recalled by the Rangers on Mar. 25 (one goal, two assists over the span), and he has tallied two points (one goal, one assist) in the last three contests.

Henrik Lundqvist made 39 saves, including 30 over the final two periods, and stopped 36 of 38 shots he faced at even strength in the contest. Lundqvist has made 30 or more saves in 36 of his 62 appearances this season, and he ranks second among NHL goaltenders in games with 30 or more saves in 2017-18. Lundqvist appeared in his 804th career NHL game in tonight’s contest, passing Hall of Famer Harry Lumley for sole possession of 14th place on the league’s all-time appearances list.

Brady Skjei tied for the game-high with four hits and tied for the team-high with three shots on goal while skating in a game-high 24:00 of ice time. Skjei is the only player who has skated in all of the Rangers’ 80 games thus far in 2017-18.

Lias Andersson won three of four faceoffs (75.0%), was credited with two hits, registered one shot on goal, and posted a plus-one rating. Andersson has posted a plus-one rating in four of five career NHL games.

Mika Zibanejad led all skaters with three blocked shots and was credited with two hits in 21:39 of ice time.

John Gilmour recorded two shots on goal and posted a plus-two rating in tonight’s contest.
