HARTFORD, CT – The Hartford Wolf Pack lost their second straight game on Sunday afternoon, 5-2, to the Laval Rocket at PeoplesBank Arena.
Anton Blidh drew first blood, giving the Wolf Pack their first goal in the third straight outing. On the power play, Nathan Aspinall fired a shot from the left-wing side that Kaapo Kähkönen denied. The rebound sat in the blue paint, where Blidh collected it and stuffed it home for his first goal of the season at 4:20.
Luke Mittelstadt countered at 13:49, however, drawing the Rocket even. From the left-wing circle, he snapped a shot that beat Callum Tung glove-first for his second goal of the season.
Josh Nadeau gave the Rocket the lead at 17:18, chipping his first career professional goal by Tung on the power play after a scramble in front of the crease.
Sasha Pastujov extended the lead late in the second period, giving the Rocket their second powerplay strike of the late afternoon. Pastujov tipped a Laurent Dauphin shot at 19:21, giving him his third goal as a Rocket.
8:15 into the third period, the Rocket extended their lead again, this time to 4-1, as Dauphin notched his first goal of the season.
Liam Greentree lit the lamp for the second straight game at 11:00, drawing the Wolf Pack to within 4-2. The puck came to Greentree on the right-wing side, where he caught Kähkönen out of position and beat him with a quick shot.
The goal was the second of the rookie forward’s career.
Xavier Simoneau restored the three-goal lead 2:27 later, however, gaining possession off a turnover and snapping home his first goal of the season to make it 5-2 at 13:27.
The Pack returns to PeoplesBank Arena Wednesday night! The puck drops at 6:30 p.m. as the Wolf Pack welcome the Lehigh Valley Phantoms to town.
