HARTFORD, CT – The Hartford Wolf Pack fell for their third straight loss on Wednesday night, 4-1 to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms at PeoplesBank Arena.
The Wolf Pack controlled much of the first period but couldn’t beat Phantoms goaltender Carson Bjarnason. Bjarnason made 12 saves to keep the score 0-0, including a few saves during a flurry of chances in the crease.
Callum Tung was no better. He made 11 saves in the period, including a beautiful glove save on Carl Grundström during the Phantoms’ lone power-play opportunity.
Grundström lit the lamp at 16:21 into the middle frame, potting his first goal of the season off the rush. Grundström took a pass in the right-wing circle from Jett Luchanko and beat Tung with a move to the left pad to make it 1-0.
Just 65 seconds later, the Wolf Pack tied it up.
Cole Beaudoin pushed the puck ahead to Taylor Raddysh, who drove into the offensive zone on the right-wing side. At the bottom of the right-wing circle, Raddysh dropped to the backhand and lifted a shot over Bjarnason’s right shoulder to tie the game 1-1.
The goal, scored at 17:26, was Raddysh’s third of the season.
The Phantoms retook the lead for good 7:14 into the third period. Noah Powell picked up the loose puck in the left-wing circle and ripped a shot through traffic by Tung for his first goal of the season.
With the extra attacker on for the Wolf Pack in the final minutes, the Phantoms put the game out of reach. Alex Bump hit the empty net from his own zone at 18:26, and Cam Dineen followed up with another full-length empty-net goal at 19:16.
