Forward Mike Taylor, who came up late last season and got into eight games with the Wolf Pack scoring two goals and helping out on two others, has signed his first AHL contract. Here’s an earlier Howlings post on the newest signed Pack player.
The voice of the Wolf Pack, Bob Crawford says of the young forward, “He seemed to jump right in and be fairly comfortable with the speed of play in the AHL, and I thought he made smart decisions with the puck. He clearly improved his production throughout his college career, and if his development continues on that upward curve, I think he could be a real solid prospect.”
Here is the official release:
WOLF PACK SIGN FORWARD MIKE TAYLOR

Former Harvard Standout Agrees to AHL DealHartford Wolf Pack general manager Jim Schoenfeld announced today that the Wolf Pack have agreed to terms on an American Hockey League contract with forward Mike Taylor.
Taylor got a taste of pro hockey with the Wolf Pack at the end of this past season, suiting up for eight AHL contests at the conclusion of his Senior season at Harvard University. Taylor netted two goals and had a pair of assists for four points in those eight games, including a two-goal, one-assist performance (his first professional points, good for a First-Star nod) in a 10-1 victory over Springfield March 29th.
A native of Maple Grove, MN, Taylor topped the 2007-08 Harvard Crimson team in points and assists, and finished third on the squad in goals, with 12 goals and 23 assists for 35 points in 34 games. Those numbers were good for a tie for fifth in the ECACHL in points and a tie for sixth in the league in assists, and earned Taylor Second-Team All-Ivy League honors. In his four-year Harvard career, the 5-11, 180-pound, 22-year-old Taylor totaled 29 goals and 41 assists for 70 points in 125 games.
