Danbury Whalers Sign Trio Vetri, Blanchette & Clark Inked

Danbury Whalers president & general manager Herm Sorcher announced the resigning of Goaltender, Peter Vetri, and Defensemen Adam Blanchette and Chris Clark to return for the 2011-12 hockey season.whalers win

Peter Vetri played in two regular season games for the Whalers last season and won both with a .981 save%, and a 0.50 GAA with one shutout. Vetri started all five playoffs, posting both Whalers wins. In his professional career, Vetri has spent time in the AHL, ECHL, and the SPHL.

Last year, Adam Blanchette played in 25 regular season games for the Whalers contributing 2 goals and 8 assists. The Berlin, CT native had one goal on the power play and also registered 3 power play assists. In four playoff games, the 6’, 215-pounder was a plus-1. A leg injury kept  Blanchette out of Game 5 in Brooklyn. One of the team’s most seasoned veterans last season, Blanchette has played in 263 professional hockey games.

Chris Clark has been playing professionally since the 2007-08 season and has played in 89 professional games. Clark has a New York Rangers connection having played in one game last season with Neil Smith’s Greenville Road Warriors, who are also the Connecticut Whale’s ECHL affiliate. Clark has also played in the CHL. Last season in 12 regular season games, the Philadelphia, PA native added six assists and was tied with Leland Fiddler for the team lead among defenseman in the plus/minus category with a plus-11.

On the return of these players to Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations, Phil Esposito commented, “We’ve got some more moves coming. The team is shaping up to be a great mix. Whatever it takes to get it done, we are going to do it….Whatever it takes.”
