GREENVILLE, SC – The Greenville Road Warriors finish off their opening weekend tonight by hosting the Reading Royals. Greenville is looking for its first win of the season after falling to Wheeling on Friday night at the BI-LO Center.
The Road Warriors are looking to shake off their season opening 6-1 defeat at the hands of the Wheeling Nailers by taking down the Reading Royals tonight. The Royals come to Greenville having lost 4-3 in overtime to the South Carolina Stingrays in North Charleston on Friday night. It is the first time the Road Warriors and Royals have met since March 24, 2011; a game in which the Road Warriors came out with a 5-2 win and grabbed sole possession of first place in the Eastern Conference. Greenville will try to get its offense to be more productive after being held to one goal and 20 shots in the season opener.
Who: Greenville Road Warriors vs. Reading Royals
What: Home Game #2, Season Game #2
When: 7:05 p.m.
Where: The BI-LO Center, 650 N. Academy St. Greenville, SC 29601.
NOTEWORTHY:
-
Both Greenville (46-22-4 ) and Reading (44-23-5) won their respective divisions in 2010-11 and won their first round playoff series in four games. Both were also eliminated in the second round.
-
Wes Cunningham earned the 100th assist of his ECHL career with the helper on Jeff Prough’s power play goal vs. Wheeling last night. Last season, Cunningham led all ECHL defensemen with 36 helpers and was runner up for Defenseman of the Year.
-
Jeff Prough needs just 11 more goals to reach 100 for his ECHL career. He has scored at least 25 goals in each of his four professional seasons.
-
The Road Warriors lost back-to-back home games only three times in the 2010-11 season, and had four different home winning streaks of three games or more. They have not lost more than two in a row at home in their history.
Mark your calendars! The Road Warriors take on the Florida Everblades at the BI-LO Center on October 28 at 7:35 p.m. Come out and enjoy the Spinx Friday Family Four Pack which gets you four tickets, four hot dogs, four bags of chips, and four fountain drinks for just $48. Great group seats are still available for the game. Groups of 10 or more get preferred seating and discounts off of the box office price. I have emailed B2live as well as the Greenville back office but have not had any replies. If anyone has any news please let me know. Thanks
